Product Details

Lusterware porcelain achieved immense popularity across Europe during the early to mid-20th century, particularly through the output of factories in Germany, Bavaria, and Czechoslovakia. These services were typically finished with a metallic glaze that produced an iridescent, pearl-like sheen when catching the light, designed to mimic more costly mother-of-pearl effects. Hand-applied heavy gold gilding and transfer-printed floral motifs, such as pink roses, were standard decorative elements aimed at the burgeoning middle-class market for home entertaining. Many of these factories exported extensively to international markets, where such opulent tea and coffee services symbolized domestic refinement and hospitality. Despite their ornate appearance, they were mass-produced in considerable quantities, ensuring their survival as cherished heirlooms down through generations.
