Wedgwood Sage Green Jasperware 1972 Mother's Day Annual Plate — "The Sewing Lesson" — the second piece in Wedgwood's beloved annual Mother's Day series, in the soft sage (olive) green jasperware that pairs beautifully with cottage decor and pink/red transferware. Central scene: a young mother teaching her daughter to sew under a tree, with a delicate laurel/leaf wreath border framing the whole. The cartouche at the bottom reads "Mother 1972" so this is also a perfect 1972 birth-year, anniversary, or first-baby gift piece. The post-1929 Wedgwood dating system uses the last two digits of the year as the date code, so "72" reads as 1972 directly.
