Product Details

This is a large antique die-cut mechanical Valentine standee / easel card (c. 1910s-1920s). Printed in Germany, this embossed chromolithograph features a whimsical seaside scene depicting a young child in a U.S. Navy sailor suit riding atop a large sea turtle on a sandy beach. The turtle holds a red heart in its mouth using green reins, surrounded by sea shells, a starfish, and sailboats on the ocean horizon. The sailor's eyes move as do his arms and the turtle's head and tail when you pull on the tail. The bottom reads in gold calligraphy "Don't think me too slow, Love." while the bottom right corner retains the tiny fine print reading "PRINTED IN GERMANY". The die-cut standee features an articulated/layered sailor boy figure mounted on an fold-out cardboard easel back. Printer/Publisher: Unknown Published Date: Unknown Size: See pics for size reference. Condition: The very tip of the turtle's tail is missing, otherwise the card shows only light expected wear. Refer to the gallery image for a better idea of the subject matter and condition of the Valentine, you will receive the exact Valentines card that is pictured. Other: -
