This is an original vintage East German papier-mché Easter egg candy container / presentation box, stamped "Made in German Democratic Republic" on the interior lining. The two-piece nesting egg features a vibrant full-color lithographed storybook illustration depicting a family of anthropomorphic ducks and chicks gathered in a rustic kitchen-featuring a chef duck serving dumplings to hungry ducklings at the dining table. The seam is bordered with original white embossed paper lace trim. The interior is lined with its original blue-printed Easter motif paper featuring chicks, bunnies, hens, florals, and decorated Easter eggs. Condition is very good vintage with bright exterior gloss and color; shows typical minor surface crazing/creasing to the outer paper wrap, an intact shell structure, and light age wear to the delicate interior paper lace edge. Measures 4 1/2 inches long.
