Product Details

The Homer Laughlin China Company introduced the Fiesta dinnerware line in 1936 at the Pittsburgh Pottery and Glass Exhibit, designed by Frederick Hurten Rhead. Featuring bright, solid colors and distinctive concentric rings, the art deco dinnerware became an American icon of mid-century kitchen design. Chartreuse was introduced as part of the original glaze palette and remained in production until it was discontinued. During the mid-20th century, these colorful glazed ceramics filled American homes, celebrated for their durability and cheerful aesthetic. The formula for the original chartreuse glaze relied on specific mineral oxides fired at high temperatures to achieve its characteristic citrus-yellow-green hue. Today, retired vintage Fiesta colors continue to be highly sought after by kitchenware collectors and enthusiasts of American industrial design.
