A striking vintage Ellis Island commemorative mug created for the 1892–1992 centennial of Ellis Island as America's federal immigration station. The glossy black ceramic mug features a large gold-tone “Destination America” medallion depicting Ellis Island beneath the American flag, surrounded by portraits representing the immigrants who passed through this historic gateway. The reverse is solid black without decoration. The black-and-gold treatment gives this piece a much richer look than the more typical tourist souvenir mug, and its subject makes it especially appealing for collectors of Ellis Island memorabilia, American immigration history, genealogy and Americana. Measures approximately 4" tall × 3" diameter, excluding the handle. Vintage condition with age-related wear to the gold decoration as shown in the photographs.
