SPECS: oval serving platter, approx 13.5 in L x 9 in W blue printed scroll border with gilt lines on white semi-vitreous body; base marked HOMER LAUGHLIN / EMPRESS / 1121 L. | HISTORY: Homer Laughlin introduced the Empress shape in 1907 and ran it for roughly thirty years across hundreds of different decorations - the same company that later gave America Fiesta. The L in the mark is the plant code for East Liverpool, Ohio, which points to production before the 1929 move, and 1121 is the pattern number rather than a date. Call it est. c.1910s-1920s. Large serving forms are the pieces worth watching in Homer Laughlin; the flatware is everywhere, the platters are not.
