Product Details

Big, historic French crown silver from the revolutionary year of 1848. This is the Paris-mint (A) Second Republic 5 Francs featuring Dupré’s Hercules group—Hercules joining Liberty and Equality beneath LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ. Struck in .900 silver; cataloged KM 756.1 / F.326/1; standard specs 25 g, 37 mm, .7234 oz ASW. I would call it VF Details. All major design elements and legends remain clear, with honest circulation wear. The surfaces show an old cleaning/wiping with visible hairlines, plus scattered green/yellow residue that may be PVC or other surface contamination. Sold and priced accordingly, not as a problem-free VF/XF. Please judge the large photos for yourself; the exact coin pictured is the coin you’ll receive. A substantial, first-year Second Republic silver crown with a great revolutionary-era design and plenty of character.
