Product Details

First year of issue and a true Civil War-era type coin. This 1864 Philadelphia Two-Cent Piece is the Large Motto variety and shows plenty of remaining detail: bold shield lines, clear arrows and leaves, a strong date, and a crisp wreath. The two-cent piece was the first U.S. coin to carry “IN GOD WE TRUST,” making it a great fit for a Civil War or obsolete-denomination collection. Photo-based estimate: approximately AU50 Details. This coin is uncertified and has been cleaned/polished, with fine hairlines, scattered scratches, and a brighter-than-original surface. A longer scratch is visible on the reverse, and the shield side has a localized rim/edge irregularity near 10–11 o’clock; this is treated as condition, not offered as a mint error. Bronze composition. Exact coin pictured—please review all photos and judge condition for yourself.
