Product Details

Struck in Holland in 1777—during the American Revolution—this small silver coin has loads of old-world character. It’s the Dutch “double wapenstuiver,” with HOLLANDIA and the date on one side and the crowned Holland lion dividing 2-S on the other. The rosette mintmark identifies Dordrecht. Standard type specifications are .583 silver, about 1.62 g and 19.6 mm; KM#48. Photo grade: VF Details. The full date, lion, shield and crown remain clear. The coin was struck noticeably off center, leaving an unusual blank crescent and trimming portions of the outer design—an eye-catching mint-made feature. Surfaces appear harshly cleaned with fine hairlines, scattered marks and a few dark spots, so it is not being represented as a problem-free straight-grade coin. Uncertified; grade, attribution and strike assessment are opinions based on the photos. Exact coin shown—please review all images carefully.
