Beautiful circa 1945–1955 Miraculous Mary floral spray brooch, featuring a striking blue devotional medallion of the Blessed Virgin Mary surrounded by dimensional flowers. The centerpiece appears to have an enameled/enamel-effect blue surface, framed by delicate detailing. The surrounding flowers feature sparkling aqua blue glass rhinestone centers with creamy white, softly translucent molded petals. The petals have a slightly pliable plastic-like feel and appear consistent with the types of early molded plastics used in mid-century costume jewelry. The reverse construction and rollover safety clasp support a mid-century dating, most likely around 1950. The combination of religious imagery, dimensional floral work, glass rhinestones, and early plastic elements in is characteristic of decorative Catholic devotional jewelry produced during the postwar period.
